After seeing the original Star War film, A New Hope at the drive in when I was five, I have always been a fan of the franchise, even some what enjoying the disastrous George Lucas attempts at the first 3 episodes. Since Disney have purchased and re-invented the Star Wars universe, we have seen some excellent additions to the collection with both episode VII and Rogue One. The latest film, The Last Jedi released last week is no exception and probably the most enjoyable of the three.

For those out there who are yet to catch this latest offering, I will try not to include any major plot spoilers.

The film is fun, fast paced, with excellent direction, acting and writing. The story has a balance of self deprecating humour, pathos and drama. The multi layered plot has strongly developed characters and intense action. The Production Design is immaculate with a good balance of practical and special effects. The story is clever and like in all good Star Wars films there a a few unintentionally funny moments. The film is filled to the brim with new and engaging creatures, and exciting new worlds.

The plot centres around the survival of the Resistance against the growing power and threat of the First Order and specifically on Luke Skywalker and General/Princess Leia. It contains all the characters introduced in episode VII along with a huge cast of new characters determined to progress the myth forward for a new generation. It is Carrie Fishers Last appearance on film and a brilliant homage to her part in the success of the franchise. I clearly loved it.
